What is on a Wendy’s Double Stack?
Two junior beef patties, American cheese, ketchup, mustard, pickle and onion on a bun. It is the Jr. Cheeseburger build with a second patty added, and it keeps the value-menu simplicity: no sauces, no lettuce, no tomato as standard.
Lettuce and tomato are available on request at no charge at most locations, but they are not part of the standard build the way they are on the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger. The beef is the same fresh, never-frozen patty Wendy’s uses across the menu, at junior weight rather than quarter-pound.
How does the Double Stack compare to the other Jr. burgers?
The second patty is what separates it, and it is worth more on protein than adding bacon is. The Jr. Cheeseburger and Double Stack differ by one patty:
| Burger | Price | Cal | Protein | Sodium |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jr. HamburgerOne patty, no cheese | $2.16 | 230 | — | — |
| Jr. CheeseburgerOne patty, cheese | $2.51 | 270 | — | — |
| Jr. Bacon CheeseburgerOne patty, bacon | $3.36 | 350 | — | — |
| Double StackTwo patties, cheese | $2.99 | 400 | — | — |
| Bacon Double StackTwo patties, bacon | $4.14 | 420 | — | — |
Double Stack or Bacon Double Stack?
The Bacon Double Stack is the same two-patty build with applewood-smoked bacon added. In numbers that is 20 more calories, 3g more protein and 110mg more sodium, for $1.15 more.
Whether that is worth it comes down to what you want from the order. On protein per dollar the plain Double Stack still wins; on flavour most people prefer the bacon version. Neither is a bad call, but the plain one is the better value pick and the reason it earns a slot in the Biggie Bag while the bacon version does not.
Should you order it in a Biggie Bag?
The Double Stack is one of four eligible sandwiches in the $6 Biggie Bag, and on protein it is the strongest of the four. If you are ordering the bundle and want the most out of it, this is the pick: the other three carry between 14g and 18g of protein against the Double Stack’s g.
Worth knowing: the Bacon Double Stack is not eligible, so if you want bacon on your two-patty burger you are ordering à la carte. Full detail on what each tier includes is on our Biggie Bag guide.
What are the nutrition numbers?
At g of protein per 100 calories the Double Stack sits near the top of the burger lineup, and its sodium is unusually modest for this menu: mg is about % of the daily limit, where the full-size burgers run half a day or more.
- Calories400Sandwich only
- Protein—
- Total fat—Two patties and cheese
- Sodium—null% of daily limit
Adding a medium fries keeps a Double Stack meal under the daily sodium limit, which is unusual on this menu and worth knowing if you order burgers regularly. Compare everything on the full nutrition table.
Double Stack questions
What is on a Wendy's Double Stack?
Two junior beef patties, American cheese, ketchup, mustard, pickle and onion on a bun. It is the Jr. Cheeseburger build with a second patty added, so it keeps the value-menu simplicity rather than adding sauces or produce.
How many calories are in a Double Stack?
380 calories with 23g of protein and 770mg of sodium. That is well under half the calories of a Baconator while carrying nearly 40% of its protein, which is what makes it the efficiency pick in the burger lineup rather than the indulgence one.
What is the difference between the Double Stack and the Bacon Double Stack?
Bacon, and the numbers that come with it. The Bacon Double Stack adds applewood-smoked bacon to the same two-patty build, taking it from 380 to 420 calories and 23g to 26g of protein, with 110mg more sodium. It costs roughly 60 cents more.
Is the Double Stack in the Biggie Bag?
Yes. It is one of the four sandwiches you can choose in the $6 Biggie Bag, alongside the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Jr. Cheeseburger and Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger. On protein it is the strongest of the four, which makes it the pick if you want the most out of the bundle.
Is the Double Stack better value than Dave's Single?
On protein per dollar, comfortably. The Double Stack delivers 23g of protein for about $3.50 against Dave's Single at 31g for around $6.09. You give up the fresh quarter-pound patty and the produce, but you keep most of the protein for roughly half the price.
How much protein is in a Double Stack?
23g, which is high for a value-menu burger. Two junior patties do most of that work. For comparison, the Jr. Cheeseburger carries 14g and the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger 18g, so the second patty is worth more on protein than adding bacon is.
Is the Double Stack a value menu item?
It sits at the top end of the value tier. It costs more than the Jr. Cheeseburger and Jr. Hamburger but stays well under the full-size burgers, and it is included in the $6 Biggie Bag, which is the clearest signal of where Wendy's positions it.
Does the Double Stack come with lettuce and tomato?
No. It ships with cheese, ketchup, mustard, pickle and onion only. Lettuce and tomato are available on request at no extra charge at most locations, but they are not part of the standard build the way they are on the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger.
How much sodium is in a Double Stack?
770mg, about a third of the recommended daily limit. That is meaningfully lower than the full-size burgers: Dave's Single carries 1,170mg and the Baconator 1,580mg. Adding a medium fry at 550mg still keeps a Double Stack meal under the daily limit, which is unusual on this menu.
